Q: Why do people have back/neck pain?
A:
There are many causes of neck and back pain ranging from acute (simple) back strain to chronic conditions, such as disc disease, bony vertebral abnormalities, nerve damage, joint and muscle disease which can be manifest after a work related injury. A qualified Pain Specialist can diagnose the source of the pain.

Q: What can the people do to get better?
A:
See and listen to the doctor, rest, eat well, take prescribed Medicine and Physical Therapy. If the pain persists, the RPTMC Pain Doctor helps the Treating doctor return the patient to living and work!

Q: What can the Regional Pain Treatment Center do?
A:
The RPTMC performs a Comprehensive Evaluation, orders tests, prescribes Medicine and Therapy, which may include Diagnostic - Therapeutic Injection Techniques to relieve the pain. Reports are promptly sent.

Q: What other types of pain are treated?
A:
ALL PAIN TYPES, included are pain from muscle, ligament, joint, nerve, stroke, spinal cord injury, spasm, facial, cancer, sympathetic and others.

Q: What are the goals of treatment?
A:
Depending on the diagnosis, we hope to decrease or eliminate the pain and medications for pain, help the patient to cope with any residual discomfort improve the quality of life and return the patient to his maximum potential level of function, including return to work or closure of the case. The Regional Pain Treatment Medical Center uses a multidisciplinary approach to help the Doctor care for the patient. Directed by a Board Certified Pain Management Specialist, we use the most current science available. A full discussion of treatment alternatives will be made with the patient in a caring professional manner. Physicians and Staff are fully Bilingual Spanish.

INJECTION TECHNIQUES entail precisely targeted placement of medication at the source of the pain. These include Nerve Blocks, Epidural Blocks, Sympathetic Nerve Blocks, Joint Blocks, Discogram Study, Trigger Point Injections, Intravenous Techniques, etc. Advanced Specialized Techniques include Neurodestructive Radiofrequency procedures, Spinal Cord Stimulation, Spinal Pump Implantation, Percutaneous Discectomy (Nucleoplasty) and Spinal Endoscopy procedures.

"Twilight Sedation". Sedation is available upon request. Patients essentially have procedures without pain or any undesired memory.

The Director: Dr. A. Liceaga is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and Board Certified in Pain Management by the American Board of Anesthesiology in Pain Management and the American Academy of Pain Management.

He is the Medical Director of the Regional Pain Treatment Center Inc. with hospital affiliations to Regional Hospital Medical Centers at each practice location.
