"Pain Management" - Referral Guidelines

The Specialty of "Pain Management" has progressed significantly in the last 40 years through a better understanding of anatomy and physiology, and through advances in pharmacology and technology, through extensive research, specialized Pain Management Fellowship training and Board Certification.

Pain Doctors are now able to make a real difference in the lives of our patients, their families, and their physicians. They provide a valuable service to society by helping to return disabled patients to a more functional and productive state, working together with the patients' physicians to promote the best possible outcome.

Pain Treatment physicians are highly trained in the art of Pain Management.
Board Certified Interventional Pain Management Specialists specifically understand, diagnose and treat the wide variety of pain complaints. Pain Treatment physicians do more than just give shots.

This guide will briefly review what kind of patient is appropriate for referral to a Pain Center. This discussion will provide a general understanding of Standard Injection Techniques and on Advanced Pain Management Techniques.

Types of Patients Appropriate for Referral
Pain Management Specialists are trained to relieve all types of pain. Services include diagnoses and recommendations for general pain treatment and specific interventional procedures, which may aid in the diagnoses and relief of the problem.
